Kansas Action for Children

Kansas Action for Children» (KAC) was founded in 1979 under leadership from the Junior Leagues of Topeka, Wichita, Johnson, and Wyandotte Counties, and the Kansas Children’s Service League. These four organizations came together with a mission to establish an independent voice in the state for Kansas children. Since that time, KAC has grown to become one of the leading child advocacy organizations in the country.
Kansas Action for Kids Poster
Kansas Action for Children is in the process of developing a series of posters to bring awareness of the challenges facing Kansas children and families. Posters will be delivered to key legislators as well as delivered electronically, but why stop there? With assistance from KU Media Productions, the first poster was brought to life through animation of several key statistics KAC wishes to share with Kansans. The video resides on KAC’s YouTube Channel. "Thank you so much for the great video! This is exactly what we needed as a different way to deliver these statistics to our constituents. We will send the video through email and have it on our website. Should give a different perspective compared to the poster. Thanks again!" Christie Appelhanz, Vice President of Public Affairs Kansas Action for Children.

KAC realized that it was important to deliver content in multiple methods and repeat the message multiple times in order for the information to be seen and understood. Video was an economical method of displaying the statistics in a creative way that might catch the attention of those who did not engage with other medium types. KU Media Productions was able to help KAC increase their reach with new medium concepts.
